Hello Everyone!
I hope you enjoyed a wonderful Thanksgiving filled with good food and good company. I am so grateful for everything I have and everyone in my life. I am especially grateful to you, my followers!

Are you exhausted from the chaos of Black Friday? Or did you avoid the mess? Maybe Cyber Monday is more your speed, when you can shop in your pajamas at home. I need to let you know, if you haven't already heard, that TPT is having a huge CYBER sale this Monday AND Tuesday, Dec. 2nd and 3rd. Everything in my store will be 20% off, and if you enter the code CYBER at checkout, TPT will take an additional 10% off! So, this will be the time to get those things you have put on your wishlist!

Also, I know how busy teachers are and that most of you will be back at work starting Monday, so I am starting the 20% off sale in my store on Sunday, Dec. 1st! So, if you would rather shop on Sunday to get ready for next week, you can still get a great deal!

Happy Thanksgiving!

We had our last day of school before the holiday yesterday, and I am so thankful for the time off! My husband still has to work, but we will get some time to spend together next weekend! Woohoo!

I was just going through ideas for fun things to do with kiddos over the holidays, and this picture I found on my phone caught my eye. I remember last year saving up bottle caps to recycle for some cause, but then the organization we were saving them for no longer collected them. So, we had lots of caps! Here is what a friend of mine did with them:

It was fun and entertaining for the kiddos, and I think I might extend this idea this year. I think they can be glued onto colored cardboard, and then the finished design cut out and placed on a plate stand. :)

Have fun this week everyone, and enjoy a great Thanksgiving!

Getting Ready for Thanksgiving!

So, one more week to go before Thanksgiving week! We get the whole week off, but I think some schools only get Thursday and Friday off. I am thankful for those extra days!

If you wish to have a little fun in the classroom this week, I have found that my students really love reader's theaters and acting out plays and skits. I guess a little drama is okay this time of year. My students love to read out the stories and interact with the text. Here are some ideas for you to keep your students active and engaged, and have some fun, too!

Product/Thanksgiving-Readers-Theater-Gobble-It-Up  A reader's theater that's fun with lots of different parts. On the first Thanksgiving, the Pilgrims and the Indians are coming together for a three day feast, and Mr. Turkey Lurkey has to take cover. There are 26 short speaking parts, so everyone can be involved! It takes approximately 20-25 minutes to be performed. No costumes necessary, but you can dress it up.

Thanksgiving-Skit-A-Joyful-Harvest  A short Thanksgiving play that is quick and easy to perform, and fun! Set the day before the first Thanksgiving. Four characters - a pilgrim boy and girl, and a native American boy and girl. A fun way to act out the preparations for the first Thanksgiving.
Thanksgiving Skit - A Joyful Harvest
Thanksgiving-Hunting-Homophones-PowerPoint  This isn't a play, but a Thanksgiving short story read-aloud on slides. Students have to search each slide for two incorrect homophones! Students have fun, and learn revising skills, too!

Thanksgiving-Then-and-Now-Venn-Diagram-SmartBoard-Activity  Another interactive way to get kids up and involved is to use technology. If you have a Smart Board, then this is a fun activity to do around Thanksgiving. Students have to drag the foods that are common to our era and that are common to the Pilgrim's era into the Venn Diagram. Kids love to move the words around on the board.
